Snipr Camera Initiative
lhawu Lethu Farmers Security Committee together with Hawks Protection Sevices, have implemented a Snipr Camera initiative. These strategic sites have had a significant proactive security impact in our community and surrounding areas.
The cameras detect and record number plates of all passing vehicles. Any flagged vehicles in South Africa are detected and local security companies are notified automatically, and as a result can respond immediately.
These cameras are operational 24 hours a day. They have been set up along our lhawu Lethu perimeter to cover access points for a radius of approximately 50,000 hectares. The data is saved and can be retrieved for crime reporting.
The cameras are positioned in such a way to cover the approximate perimeter areas:
Upper Tongaat, Cranbrook, Esenembe, Glendale, Tinley Manor, Compensation and Maidstone.
